So, you just got Star Trek Online and you want to get started? First thing you need to do is make a character for yourself. How to do so will be explained right here.

Starting out[]

First of all, you need to select what faction you're going to play. With Release of the Legacy of Romulus Expansion you can now select between the Federation, the Klingons and the Romulans. Additionally you no longer need to get a Federation Character to Level 25 to unlock Klingons and Romulans, instead, they are unlocked from the beginning.

After this, you are going to choose a career path for your captain.

You can choose from the following:

Career

Choosing a career

Now you need to choose a Species for your character. Look carefully at the Species you choose, as each Species has one or two specific Traits associated with it. These Traits will affect gameplay for your specific character. You can also "create" your own Species, which allows you to customize the look of your character. The benefit to this is that you will be allowed to select four Traits of your choosing. Find the Species that fits your play style and continue.

Traits[]

Now we have come to a important part. Traits should be chosen wisely, and should work good with your career path. Note that Traits can be reset just as skills can by purchasing a trait reset token from C-Store or opening a Trait pack.

Check out all of the trait and their effects here.

Right now you can go and alter your body in detail. Everything from length to weight to even big ole titties for females can be altered here. Customize it all you want or just click the random button to let the game make a character for you.

Customizing your uniform[]

Here you can alter your uniform. You can change what you are wearing, change its color, get another combadge and even more. Again, click the random button to get a random uniform.

All we need is a name now.. and were done!
